Had a short walk to the Crown and was met with a nice welcome and secured a table for two without a wait.There are... three eating areas inside and also tables outside.We sat in the conservatory which was a nice bright area but not much of a view as it's hidden by the parked cars.The staff bought over the menu and got us drinks very quickly then gave us five minutes to look at the menu, reasonable choice of meals and well priced.We decided not to have starters but looking at others who did they looked good we had the lamb shank and the peppered chicken for mains, both were excellent, well cooked and presented, and the portions were a very good size.We were so full after the main meal neither of us wanted a pudding.The staff had just the right level of interaction we had coffee after the meal before leaving.If you are hungry and want a great filling meal I recommend going off the beaten track to dine here I am sure it won't disappoint, they can also handle a party table of a dozen people if you want to visit as a groupIt was relatively quiet on the Tuesday night we visited, but we will certainly be returning to try more off their menu!read more

Our first experience at the Crown since they re opened, it was a lovely relaxed environment. We were really looked... after, our waitress was lovely. Entertainment at night was great. I really reccomend the food, even the side salad was delicious.read more

We held my father in laws wake today, we used the function room. The room was perfect the staff were very helpful and... friendly. Food was freshly made and was really good and tasty. Our guest loved the home made trifle, reminded them of the old days. Would certainly recommend and will be visiting for a meal in the future.read more

It’s my second time at The Crown since it re-opened so I thought I’d leave a review.It’s so hard to find great dog and... child friendly gastro pubs that have great food and service too, and this is one of those hidden gems.Lovely restaurant to eat when dining in the evening, great casual dining area for lunch with the kids and dogs.Very helpful and friendly waitresses who couldn’t do enough for us (and the puppy) dog blankets and treats at the ready when we arrived. Food was hot and tasted great. Will be back again for sure. 🐾❤️read more

We found this place by mistake really. We were taken on a detour yesterday in the pouring rain and decided to call in.... The staff couldn't do enough for us. We hadn't booked but they found us a table. The menu is vast. My husband had the duck pizza and I had the steak pie. The food was amazing. Fresh and hot. The service was lovely. Staff very helpful. Had a visit here to see Andy Mac artist playing tonight, he was really good. We also had a late dinner homemade... burgers/chips & steak/ale pie/glazed carrots/chips/gravy & drinks. We walked in without a booking, it was very busy but we were greeted by staff & made very welcome & we were accommodated to our table. It's a lovely country pub with field surrounding, very popular lot's of friendly locals, great customer service, food was awesome, we were stuffed so no room to experience their 2for £10 cocktail menu! But another time, definitely recommended & we'll be back again soon, thank you for your hospitality.read more

Overall a decent experience, but hopefully the new menu they have coming next month will see improvements. Good... service, attentive without being too intrusive. We were seated quickly in a busy restaurant. Food was all well cooked and well presented. Downsides, menu was uninspired, boring. I had the Homemade Black Pudding starter, the black pudding was suspiciously round to have been homemade, the thyme potato rosti looked suspiciously like an Iceland hash brown. If you're going to set expectations like "homemade" you really shouldn't present something like this. And if you can poach an egg as well as the one that topped the dish then you can present a better dish than this. Other than this all the dishes were good. The risotto was a win, the fish and chips were great. Really good value for money.read more

The Best Pub in the area, hands down.Offers everything: pub, restaurant, games room, live sport on TV, live music on... weekends, promotions (cocktails, food, etc) and events (bonfire night, Halloween, etc).The new menu is a big improvement, we’ve enjoyed everything we’ve had. The quality is good, as are the portions. The pies are recommended!The beer selection is improved also.Always friendly, polite staff and a good ambiance - not overly rowdy or pretentious.read more

Lovely pub/restaurant with a fantastic selection of beers craft, cask and traditional.Food is very well presented and... nice enough. Would like to see a little more choice on the menu and a little less on the price.Staff we very attentive and we were served by Tia who was lovely.We also got a little treat bag for the kiddy with the bill.. a lovely little touch.New and modern decorated and in plesent surroundings - its a great visit.read more

Definitely have to leave 5 stars. The food was really good and well presented, but the main reason is The Crown... accommodated 30 people from a Christening when the original venue had to cancel because of covid just 2 hours before we were due to go.Thank you so much to the manager and staff for coming to our rescue, the marquee was lovely and worked out really well for us.read more

Visited The Crown for Sunday lunch. The food was terrible, with extremely undercooked (solid) chips and vegetables. We... barely ate anything and got Subway on the way home. The service was poor/slow, having to ask twice for cutlery. On paying we were never asked if everything was OK. Would have said something but doubted it would do any good.The place came recommended by others but was a massive let down. Avoid.read more

Second weekend running that the table booking system has been utterly shambolic. Messaged AM to be informed no tables... available yet when I phoned was told it would be ok to just turn up. Like one or two others on these pages it seems loyalty is a distant memory. Experienced no such problems at the White Crow.read more

Very poor service. Extremely long wait for drinks ( nearly an hour )Lots of customers complaining but owner did not... seem to care. Food was over priced for what you get. Ordered a bottle of wine that was on the menu only to be told it could not been sold to us as it was a 1 litre bottle. Toilet facilities not the best . One out of order. Another blocked and no toilet paper in the others. It was cold in the marquee and so politely asked owner if heators could be turned on to which he commented - yes once you have spent a thousand pounds with me!!. Other customers also asked him and he refused. AVOID.read more

Avoid at all costs, the drinks don’t taste right they are flat. Granted I visited on a busy Saturday but had to wait 30... mins for my drink of Peroni only to have got it to arrive flat. They replaced for one which was better. Upon paying the bill which I had to ask for multiple times I decided it was best to go straight to the bar. Upon reaching the bar I found the male manager. I spoken to him about my unhappiness of service and drink quality to be told “go and drink somewhere else”. What hurts most about these comments is I’ve supported the crown since it’s re-opening. Recommending friends and family to take the visit and enjoy there food. Recently they have opened a hotel as an engineering director who’s company operates out of Bradley Hall I was looking forward to offering contractor’s an alternative to premier inn. But for the customer service I would truly recommend anywhere else but the crown.read more

We went on 15/04 just after the re-opening of pubs outside. The tables were well placed for social distancing. The... food was good, as was the service, although the food was a little slow (we had a young child with us so appreciate not having to wait too long!). We came across the Crown at Worthington by our chance one a wet weekday, as we drove past we noticed lights were on... during lunchtime and it just looked inviting. Feeling peckish we popped in for a light lunch.This was my first meal out in the UK after recently returning from over a decade in Qatar in the Middle East. After a decade of five star lunches in the worlds richest country I didn’t expect the experience to be so good, its a little treasure, the food was superb. I had homemade Black pudding with egg, hash brown and a home made sauce, its the finest Black pudding I have ever eaten, my friend had the homemade Chicken pate, this was also superb. We only popped in for a snack, however the food was so good we ended up ordering an additional helping of code bites and again it was superb. Last but not least were delighted to receive at 25 percent discount when presented with the bill. We will be going back for a full meal and highly recommend this establishment for excellent service and extremely tasty food. We done to the staff and chefs for making a wet Thursday lunchtime a delight.read more

Visited Friday evening for an anniversary meal, thought we would try it as we had eaten there many years ago, and food... was very good, we also ate there after renewing our vows.The place has been refurbished to a good standard and looked fresh, perhaps too fresh as wife felt cold.The girl at the door was polite and took our temperature then led us to our table .Wasn’t too long wait before the lady took our food and drinks order.The menu had been reduced due to Covid so not lots of choices but that was fine, still enough to choose from.We both had the Sirloin Steak, it is priced at £22, so was looking forward to it.After the soup which was Parsnip and cheddar, very nice indeed, the steak arrived.How disappointing, this steak was no more than you would get from a local frozen food shop where you could get three for £10!!Small, fatty, thin, £22 really!Mine had to be returned as it had been cooked rare, and not Medium and had to wait 10/15 minutes before it came back to the table, my wife by this time had finished her meal.The lady told me that they had cooked me a fresh steak, well if they did this was the smallest steak in the world. The taste was really nice but for £22 I would want more than four fork fulls.Over all funny enough the place is nice and if you go for a basic meal, burger/ gammon etc, they where priced about right. The drinks where expensive also.We were not offered a desert menu so can’t comment on the desserts.Possibly would return for basic meal but not in the near future, If they want returning customers , they need to sort the meat out. Maybe they bought cheap meat in the eat out to help out scheme!! Just a thought.It would also have been a nice gesture to offer us a drink or reduce our bill for the mistake on cooking my Steak and ruining our anniversary meal.!!read more

Always better to book in advance to save an inside table. We arrived on the spur of the moment and took a table... outside. Only sandwiches for outside. But they very tasty and I will be going back again. Recomended!read more

Called in whilst waiting for a car service .1st impression were good as fully checked covid19 on arrival .... Unfortunately it went down hill from there .Egg mayo sandwich 6£ ? Really 6 pounds worth of eggs ? Young guy behind bar is every owners nightmare if you want to make a success.Couldn't work the till so took order on paper ...only 2 items ..a drink and the Dubai priced egg mayo.Sat next to bar and guy simply walked away ...So say at table right opp bar with no drink as he decided to do other jobs .. Eventually I asked about the drink to which reply was I will get in a minute ?? He then collected ice bucket before finally doing a drink and slamming on the table .Luckily I was in a good mood ! .If you are serving overpriced food at least train your staff .Manners cost nothing and are a given in the restaurant game .Girls on check in were fine and helpful .read more
