Not very freindly walked in at 7pm. Gave our name and was informed there was around a 20 min wait! No problem please take a seat in the bar and someone will be with you with a table and menu. After 40 mins we had to ask if we were going … More to be seated? The lady did not know we were there. She brought us the menu and asked rather abrubtly do you wish to eat here or in the resteraunt? Errr what have I come here for? We looked at the menu price for a pub and decided to exit. Not that expensive lookin just a near country pub nothing special. Would imagime it would appeal to real ale dinkers but not diners.Drove five minutes away to the White Crow.Much more pleasant and freindlier was served and sorted within 10 mins

Went on a Friday night, had some tea and enjoyed a band. Great place, very dog friendly with lots of blankets and cushions for your furry friend. Food was very nice and proper "home cooked" style. Had a chat with some of the band … More and we'll be back very news.Staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs without being overbearing, five out of five this place, get yourself down there!!

A friend and I called for lunch on Thursday, when we went in it was virtually empty (not a good sign).waiter took our order and then we waited.45 minutes I enquired about the food and was told it was on its way the chef was on his own.15minutes … More later I asked if the food was ready or could we pay for our drinks and leave.young lady went to the kitchen and came straight back out and said yes that's fine.whats fine I asked you can pay for your drinks. No apologies no explanation nothing! very poor service.we left and went to the white crow, lovely pleasant staff quick efficient service and within 25minutes we had a delicious hot meal in front of us.Doubt we will be visiting the crown any time soon.

The pulled pork burger also looked amazing. Good prices. … More A little bit out of the way if you don't know the location well but not too far of a walk from the centre of standish. Oh dear things have definitely gone down hill since we used to visit a few years ago staff were quite slow and didn't seem to know what drinks were what ( not there fault really need to train them better) when I finally got my pint … More of real ale didn't have to even take a sip to know it was off .. turning sour (informed the brewer as its his livelihood ) beer was changed no fuss but the staff didn't seem to know what was wrong with it a lot of vacant looks.. food was average prices not so ..room for improvement

We went to the crown at Worthington tonight there was 6 of us. We hadn't been for years prior to tonight's visit. We certainly won't be leaving it so long again. The service was amazing the food was outstanding. We felt like … More regulars the way we was welcomed and looked after was 2nd to none. I would certainly recommend coming here. Beautiful area outside for those summer nights. I honestly can't write how Beautiful everything was. We will see you again very soon. And thank you for an amazing family meal.

Came for a meal here with high expectations. Unfortunately left disappointed. Upon arriving it became clear that the menu provided was very different to the one available online, the meals we had preselected at home were not actually available. … More We were told the website hadn't been updated, this was a minor inconvenience and we were happy to make selections from the available menu. Service was good and starters were nice as were the kids meals, the mains however were a huge let down. I ordered an 8oz Ribeye which i ordered as medium rare. Came as medium at best and at least 3 of the 8oz was fat, also quite tasteless and i wouldn't normally complain about too much food but the chips and the garnish (tomatoes, mushroom and onion rings) was comically large. My wife ordered a chicken fried rice that was extremely greasy and tasted very bland. We didn't eat most if it and decided not to bother with dessert. Won't be going here again.

Had a joint 50th/70th some of the staff were shocking !! There your best friend when taking the deposit for the room then once that is done possibly the most miserable unhelpful staff I ever experienced.Promised to have certain types of … More alchohol on the tapa upstairs then changed there mind the night before claiming they never offered us this service. At the end of the night we were told we needed to empty the room completely without discussing this with us before hand. The lad serving us upstairs who initially took the deposit has a face like a slapped arse he was about as much use as a handbrake on a canoe I can honestly say I won't be returning here.

Booked a bar meal with the hubby today 24/02/24. On arrival we were told to sit wherever we liked, we were promptly brought the menus and ordered drinks. We waited quite a while for someone to come and take our food order but gave up and … More my husband went to the bar to order. The young lady then came to the table and took our order. The food was really lovely, I had steak and ale pie and the hubby had chicken and leek pie.We finished and again waited for ages for someone to come over to tidy the table and take the sweet order, I gave up and again went to the bar to ask.I had a delicious chocolate brownie and ice cream. I then went to the bar to pay.The pub has a lovely feel to it, the food was delicious and the staff very friendly. Booked a meal for 4 at the crown, lots of parking and pub seems nicely decorated. Friendly greeting from staff and taken to our table.Good selection from menu although no lamb shanks available, food was good, reasonable priced and the waitress … More was very good.Only gripe was the place was freezing, I realise energy prices make it difficult for pubs but we didn't feel like staying for extra drinks or desserts . All four people thought the same and probably wouldn’t return on a cold day as made the meal less enjoyable.

We went for Christmas Day 2024 Never again it was the worst meal that we had ever had we didn’t eat much the canopies where the best thing we had. The beef wellington pastry was soggy and the beef was so black it was inedible. we complained … More and they changed it for a Christmas dinner which was the same quality. We complained and asked to speak to the manager and was told he was off sick. We sent him a Email and he replied saying that he was in the kitchen on that day so he knew how poor the quality of the food he was sending out. We have been trying to get a refund. But 2 months on and still he has not sorted it out. Very bad management and customer care will never eat there again

Myself and my partner hired the whole of the Crown on NYE 2023. We had our wedding breakfast, upstairs, and then in the evening come downstairs where we had entertainment. As you can imagine we booked with the crown around 12 months in … More advance, and from the start the communication between ourselves and Andrew and Nic was exceptional with constant check ins and catch ups whether this be txt, dropping into the Crown unexpectedly just to clarify things, which made us feel comfortable with the events for the main day. To put it into context we had over 70 people in the day, and this increased to around 150 in the evening. The crown was pivotal to the smooth running of the day this included setting the room up for ceremony, breakfast, supporting with all pour guests needs, as well as catering a full 3 course meal for all our day guests, which must be said was fantastic, the number of comments we received of our guests saying this was the best meal they have had at a wedding I had lost count! Again, for our evening guests we had the homemade pizzas and some creative grazing boards which looked brilliant too and were a nice touch to an evening party where people can just graze and no need for plates etc.We made use of all the rooms at the Crown too, which were lovely and clean and just what we needed with some of our guests not local. Andrew and Nic worked well with our other suppliers and literally helped the whole day go seamlessly, and we literally couldn’t fault a thing. They are really open to using the venue however you really want, we even had the main restaurant downstairs as a dancefloor. The venue was staffed appropriately so there were no long queues at the bar for the guests which is always a bonus! For the quality of food and service we received we thought the pricing at the crown was also super reasonable, and to top it off Andrew really can put his hand to anything, he did our fireworks in the evening which was a special touch we decided we wanted, so he got them and set them off on our behalf and these were great addition to our pictures and videos. Nic is super creative and will support with room dressing, food inspiration you name it!

Beautiful pub and restaurant serving wholesome English food. The staff is super friendly. The decor is fitting and adorable featuring multi blue plaid carpeting & cozy deco. They even had dog blankets and a wood burning stove for cold … More nights .. of course I was here in August so it was too warm for that. The food is phenomenal. I had the steak pie with mash and seasonal veggies.. It did not disappoint. The bathrooms are clean. It has ample parking and lovely views. The prices were very good for the superb food quality. 4th time visiting since reopening, reluctant to return after previous poor service experience, risked it for the beer garden. waited 60 minutes for a beef burger, duck spring rolls and fish and chips, asked 45 minutes into the wait how … More long it was going to be as the restaurant was empty, only a few couples sat outside with drinks, we was told it was coming “now”, waited 15 more minutes. food is good but the wait ruins the experience, and unfortunately there’s been no growth since opening.. hopefully this is only our experience and not a common occurrence but it’s been just like this each time we’ve come - spread out visits all at relatively quiet times. disappointing

We spent a night to break a journey. They couldn't find the room key for some time and then the access to the room was up a bare concrete stairway without poor lighting. The room was just big enough and had a compact shower room. … More Unfortunately one bed side light didn't work and the centre light was poor. 2nd visit and was very poor. Went as a group of 7 and 2 dogs on a Sunday. Was told no chicken burger and only gammon roast, as we went to order a chicken pizza was told they could do it but they had no chicken. The roast dinner came instead … More of gammon it was slices of bacon. The food choices and quality was poor. The staff seemed to be half asleep and not wanting to be there, with the restaurant quiet they seemed more bothered about having chats than sorting out drinks for the table which we had to ask for a few times. Definitely won't be back.

Had a short walk to the Crown and was met with a nice welcome and secured a table for two without a wait. There are three eating areas inside and also tables outside. We sat in the conservatory which was a nice bright area but not much of … More a view as it's hidden by the parked cars. The staff bought over the menu and got us drinks very quickly then gave us five minutes to look at the menu, reasonable choice of meals and well priced. We decided not to have starters but looking at others who did they looked good we had the lamb shank and the peppered chicken for mains, both were excellent, well cooked and presented, and the portions were a very good size.We were so full after the main meal neither of us wanted a pudding. The staff had just the right level of interaction we had coffee after the meal before leaving. If you are hungry and want a great filling meal I recommend going off the beaten track to dine here I am sure it won't disappoint, they can also handle a party table of a dozen people if you want to visit as a groupIt was relatively quiet on the Tuesday night we visited, but we will certainly be returning to try more off their menu!Returned on 28th July had another fantastic meal it beat me which is hard to do lovely pork loin with all the trimmings certainly did not disappoint

The Best Pub in the area, hands down.Offers everything: pub, restaurant, games room, live sport on TV, live music on weekends, promotions (cocktails, food, etc) and events (bonfire night, Halloween, etc). The new menu is a big improvement, … More we’ve enjoyed everything we’ve had. The quality is good, as are the portions. The pies are recommended! The beer selection is improved also.Always friendly, polite staff and a good ambiance - not overly rowdy or pretentious.

Had a visit here to see Andy Mac artist playing tonight, he was really good. We also had a late dinner homemade burgers/chips & steak/ale pie/glazed carrots/chips/gravy & drinks. We walked in without a booking, it was very busy … More but we were greeted by staff & made very welcome & we were accommodated to our table. It's a lovely country pub with field surrounding, very popular lot's of friendly locals, great customer service, food was awesome, we were stuffed so no room to experience their 2for £10 cocktail menu! But another time, definitely recommended & we'll be back again soon, thank you for your hospitality.

Very nice bar. Lovely outside on the decking. However!Working in the bar was two young smart barmen who were really friendly. Then there was, who I think was the manager. A young lady who had a really bad attitude. Micro managing the young … More lads and was rude to me and my partner. There card system had gone down and she insisted she had told us before purchasing our drinks. She hadn't. She demanded that they be paid for and that they couldn't be taken outside without payment. Very very rude. She told a man to go to the nearest cash machine for cash!!!I know its about a mile away.Anyway. This young lady is on something of a power trip. I live local and the word is out. Will I go again? Probably, unless they know who we are and put us on the Pub Watch list. This young lady has a lot to learn I'm afraid. Watch out for her. About 30 with dyed red hair. Quite vile. Felt sorry for the lovely young lads having to working for this control freak!!!!Honesty hurts doesn't it

Went with fairly large party so had to prebook our meals which seemed ridiculous when we still had to wait an hour for our starters. Nicely decorated and modernised, the interiors are attractive and comfortable. Interesting menu. The buffet lunch served for the funeral wake we attended was nicely presented and good quality. However, despite it being a very cold day, … More the only radiator was lukewarm, and the room was draughty. There were approx 40 of us. There was a long queue to order drinks, especially tea and coffee; and a long waiting time (40 minutes at one point) before it was served. This was because there was only one coffee machine, and one server! Sadly, despite the over-stretched staff being apologetic, these things spoiled the day, and people said they would be reluctant to visit again, in case things hadn't improved. This was a missed marketing opportunity.

Advertised free WiFi there was none. But overall a very good visit sort the rooms out and it's a 5 star review.

Christmas Day 2021.Cost for 5 x people food £400 - had to pay up front & pre ordered food from menu online.Cokes’s & bottle of Chardonnay - £38.Arrived at 13.40 for the 14.00 sitting. Meet & greeted then shown to table by very … More pleasant young lady.Promised canopies whilst waiting for food….took over 70minutes to arrive at table. After approx 90minutes some started foods arrived at table whilst others arrived nearly 15 minutes later, so two had finished before other 3 received starters.Main courses eventually arrived nearly 2 &1/2hr after arriving at restaurant, incinerated over cooked fillet steak (ordered med/rare) 2 x small prawns, 3 x small jersey boiled potatoes cut in half “no veg”….no cutlery for 10 minutes to eat with…chased several times….so food by time cutlery arrived was now disappointedly cold.Deserts arrived for 4 x people of the table….but missing one !! ….chased 4 times within next 20 minutes with waitresses but didn’t arrive.Eventually asked the waitress to pack missing desert up to take home.So In conclusion….£438 for a Christmas meal served over 3hrs for 5 people, late starters, cold over cooked steak, no veg, no desert for one of the party….I fully appreciate that over Christmas Day they are going to be busy, but felt extremely disappointed…..poor service & a feeling of being taken for a ride means that we will unfortunately never again venture to the crown…..we were all looking forward to what promised to be a pleasant Christmas Day family meal….ended up wishing we had booked elsewhere.

Overall a decent experience, but hopefully the new menu they have coming next month will see improvements. Good service, attentive without being too intrusive. We were seated quickly in a busy restaurant. Food was all well cooked and well … More presented. Downsides, menu was uninspired, boring. I had the Homemade Black Pudding starter, the black pudding was suspiciously round to have been homemade, the thyme potato rosti looked suspiciously like an Iceland hash brown. If you're going to set expectations like "homemade" you really shouldn't present something like this. And if you can poach an egg as well as the one that topped the dish then you can present a better dish than this. Other than this all the dishes were good. The risotto was a win, the fish and chips were great. Really good value for money.

We came across the Crown at Worthington by our chance one a wet weekday, as we drove past we noticed lights were on during lunchtime and it just looked inviting. Feeling peckish we popped in for a light lunch. This was my first meal out … More in the UK after recently returning from over a decade in Qatar in the Middle East. After a decade of five star lunches in the worlds richest country I didn’t expect the experience to be so good, its a little treasure, the food was superb. I had homemade Black pudding with egg, hash brown and a home made sauce, its the finest Black pudding I have ever eaten, my friend had the homemade Chicken pate, this was also superb. We only popped in for a snack, however the food was so good we ended up ordering an additional helping of code bites and again it was superb. Last but not least were delighted to receive at 25 percent discount when presented with the bill. We will be going back for a full meal and highly recommend this establishment for excellent service and extremely tasty food. We done to the staff and chefs for making a wet Thursday lunchtime a delight.

Avoid at all costs, the drinks don’t taste right they are flat. Granted I visited on a busy Saturday but had to wait 30 mins for my drink of Peroni only to have got it to arrive flat. They replaced for one which was better. Upon paying … More the bill which I had to ask for multiple times I decided it was best to go straight to the bar. Upon reaching the bar I found the male manager. I spoken to him about my unhappiness of service and drink quality to be told “go and drink somewhere else”. What hurts most about these comments is I’ve supported the crown since it’s re-opening. Recommending friends and family to take the visit and enjoy there food. Recently they have opened a hotel as an engineering director who’s company operates out of Bradley Hall I was looking forward to offering contractor’s an alternative to premier inn. But for the customer service I would truly recommend anywhere else but the crown.

Visited Friday evening for an anniversary meal, thought we would try it as we had eaten there many years ago, and food was very good, we also ate there after renewing our vows. The place has been refurbished to a good standard and looked … More fresh, perhaps too fresh as wife felt cold. The girl at the door was polite and took our temperature then led us to our table .Wasn’t too long wait before the lady took our food and drinks order. The menu had been reduced due to Covid so not lots of choices but that was fine, still enough to choose from.We both had the Sirloin Steak, it is priced at £22, so was looking forward to it.After the soup which was Parsnip and cheddar, very nice indeed, the steak arrived. How disappointing, this steak was no more than you would get from a local frozen food shop where you could get three for £10!!Small, fatty, thin, £22 really!Mine had to be returned as it had been cooked rare, and not Medium and had to wait 10/15 minutes before it came back to the table, my wife by this time had finished her meal. The lady told me that they had cooked me a fresh steak, well if they did this was the smallest steak in the world. The taste was really nice but for £22 I would want more than four fork fulls.Over all funny enough the place is nice and if you go for a basic meal, burger/ gammon etc, they where priced about right. The drinks where expensive also.We were not offered a desert menu so can’t comment on the desserts.Possibly would return for basic meal but not in the near future, If they want returning customers , they need to sort the meat out. Maybe they bought cheap meat in the eat out to help out scheme!! Just a thought. It would also have been a nice gesture to offer us a drink or reduce our bill for the mistake on cooking my Steak and ruining our anniversary meal.!!

Food only took 20 mins to arrive and was excellent. My friends had the fish and chips … More and one remarked one of the best ever had. I had a pie which was very tasty. So overall a really good experience. Only drawback was a lack of choice in real ales, there being only amber ales on and a pet hate for us 3, Doom Bar. Waitress explained delivery due and there were 2 unoccupied pumps so will go again as overall experience very nice. Thanks to new owners for the overhaul and making such a good go of it.

Came here earlier last week to try it since it had reopened. Booked in for 8pm and sat streight down. Drinks where ordered, we then got asked by another waitress if we had ordered drinks so we told her we had. These then came out fast while … More we where deciding what to eat.Waitress came to take our order and both starter and main that I chose of the menu was no longer available but this was not explained to us earlier. After changing my order we where then approached by another waitress asking if we had ordered which we told them we had. We then waited 1 hour and 30 mins for the starter to arrive, I wouldn't mind if it was a technical masterpiece but it was mushrooms on toast. After finishing the starters which where actually really nice even though I had aged while waiting for them we then waited a further 45 mins for the mains to arrive. These where also pretty good apart from the child's gammon being raw in the middle, however there was enough to eat just avoiding the undercooked bit. There seemed to be 1 waitress walking around apologising to customers and sorting everyone out while the others just seemed to stand there and talk or act like they had no idea what was going on. There also seemed to be more waiting staff than customers that all seemed to be busy fools doing not much.I understand these are new and young staff and will be giving it another try in the future once everyone has had time to settle in and had more training, would also not have that many waiting staff. All in all:Service 4/10Wait times 1/10Food 7/10

Decided to get behind the eat out to help out initiative so for the first in 5 1/2 months we planned to eat out, the Crown has allegedly had £m 1/4 spent on it so decided to try it out. Aesthetically much improved, table booked for 19:00, … More ordered 19:15, starters arrived 20:15 quality passable. The mood in the place turned ugly about 20:45, some pretty mild mannered people were growing weary of the wait and leaving the place, about 21:00 a guy who said he was the owner, knelt at the side of our table and said he wasn't happy with the quality of the food, and was shutting the kitchen, to be honest, I was so hungry egg and chips would have done, we didn't have to pay for our starters, but had to pay for our drinks, no offer of any compensation such as a money off voucher for another visit. My advice either swerve the place or take your own sandwiches, some amateur playing restaurateur, nil Points.

Young guy behind bar is every … More owners nightmare if you want to make a success.Couldn't work the till so took order on paper ...only 2 items ..a drink and the Dubai priced egg mayo.Sat next to bar and guy simply walked away ...So say at table right opp bar with no drink as he decided to do other jobs .. Eventually I asked about the drink to which reply was I will get in a minute ?? He then collected ice bucket before finally doing a drink and slamming on the table .Luckily I was in a good mood ! .If you are serving overpriced food at least train your staff .Manners cost nothing and are a given in the restaurant game .Girls on check in were fine and helpful .

The pub has been done up really nice, I visited with my wife, I had not eaten out for a while and I was looking forward to it, we both ordered lamb rump, it tasted nice but for about £16 each I thought it would of been better, I personally … More think it was a small portion, could of done with a better selection of veg as it came with some kale, not enough sauce for me, I do hope they get better as this is a venue that I would like to see do well, I will visit again at some point, I do hope it gets better as I think it was a average meal, I just read a review that the owner spoke to someone and had closed the kitchen on one occasion as he wasn't happy with the food so I do hope they manage to sort things out as these are tough times

On a weekend away and our first visit to the crown at worthington.Food was really good, enjoyed every course unfortunately we had a frosty reception from the waitress and she continued to be blunt verging on rude throughout till taking … More our mains plates away. Thankfully the other waitress and bar men who brought the drinks and desserts to the table were lovely and saved the night as initially we were ready to leave and go back to the white crow where the night before had lovely friendly service. A shame this one person made us feel uncomfortable in such a nice pub with a great chef.

We had a family Sunday lunch today. The food was was jsut superb. Not one of the family of 8 could fault anything they ordered. The service was fast and very friendly, even though we were using half price vouchers! Will definitely be returning … More in the near future, and I won't begrudge paying full price next time!

Superb, just can't fault it. We went on a 3 day break with breakfast included for £59 for 2!!The value was fantastic.Rooms were excellently clean, comfortable and as described, charming, with a beautiful countryside view. - The setting … More around surrounding countryside and with a village feel was second to none for Lancashire countryside. We had one full English and one veggie breakfast, absolutely lovely. (Eggs easy-over would have been a bonus but I forgot to ask!). The bar in there is traditional countryside but with a careful mix of contemporary up-dating. It's a bar that is so frienly with great staff that you just want to sit in drinking from lovely lunch straight-through to dinner - we did - sod the walking! Will definately return and wish them lots of luck because they definately put the effort in, first class. From Eve Peers, Manchester City Centre resident.
